What the heck is this drama? Really, TV Asahi, what were you thinking? I guess this is one for the kids (or at least it seems like it should be). They should air this show at seven or eight instead of nine. I'm guessing people will probably still watch it anyway, regardless of how ridiculous it is.
In the first scene, Minami Susumu comes home and greets his 16-centimeter little girlfriend, Chiyomi (Fukada Kyouko) who lives under his bed. Then the drama jumps back a few weeks to show us how this came to be.
Minami and Chiyomi are 12th graders. Minami is a member of the track team at school and Chiyomi is the only member of the shodou club. Minami gets picked to run in a marathon, and to celebrate they eat at a Chinese restaurant that appeared out of nowhere. There, Chiyomi gets a fortune cookie that says she will be with Minami forever.
This fortune doesn't seem very likely to come true, because Chiyomi's father is forbidding her to see Minami. Minami and Chiyomi are planning a trip for just the two of them together for summer vacation, but they don't have the money. Chiyomi secretly gets a short-term job at a hostess bar to pay for the trip. Minami doesn't know about this and starts becoming suspicious of Chiyomi. Meanwhile, another student, Reika, is making approaches toward Minami. She's a very creepy girl.

Minami runs in the city marathon, but he has food poisoning from eating oysters the night before and he collapses in the middle of the marathon. Chiyomi comes to help him and gets him disqualified by touching him. After that, he asks her to break up with him.
Chiyomi is really upset by this and goes home. On the way home, she looks again at the paper fortune she received that says they would be together forever. She throws it away and it burns and disappears in mid air. Then Chiyomi falls into the river on her bike.
The next day, Chiyomi is missing at school and her father and Minami are looking for her. Chiyomi wakes up on the bank of the river and discovers that she has become tiny. She has a hard time avoiding animals, people's feet, etc., but she is eventually found by Minami and taken home to his room. Obviously, they don't know why Chiyomi has suddenly shrunk to the size of a doll. They have to keep her hidden from his family and figure out how she is going to take a bath, etc. The preview for the next episode shows her getting into more danger and continuing to hide from Minami's family. I guess we can see the general direction this drama is heading.
I don't know why they're still making dramas like this. This is so silly. I didn't know that fortune cookies grant wishes. This is worse than okusama wa majo. If you want, you can let the kids stay up and watch it.
