Rainy days never stays

"Rainy days never stays" is the second single to come out since the brilliant green made their comeback, and despite the fact that the title is obviously the worst English they've had yet (it should be "Rainy days never STAY", not plural -- This is English, not Spanish), the single kicks ass big time. Well, would you expect anything less from such a band as the brilliant green?

"Rainy days never stays" is a bit on the lighter side, but doesn't stay too light throughout -- The song is substantially louder once it hits the chorus. I feel that this is a very beautiful song that again showcases Tommy's singing capabilities quite well, but may not well suit the taste of brilliant green fans who prefer the band's harder rock songs like "Forever to me". Still, personally I love this song almost as much as "Forever to me". How can you not really love this band?

A shot from the "Rainy days never stays" promotion video.

Now, with a name like "MOLDY HOLE!!" one would naturally expect the song to have some sort of perverted connotation, but that isn't really the case. No matter what the title, don't ever expect any lyrics too out of the ordinary from the brilliant green. Like in the case of the song, "I'm a player in T.V games", on their previous single, some people expected that to be a song about video games, while it really doesn't go too far in depth on that subject. The entirely English lyrics of "MOLDY HOLE!!" are pretty standard for the brilliant green. The moldy hole is just a place where Tommy is telling the guy she is fed up with to go, with no real apparent perversion. This is a nice moderate tempo, upbeat short rock song. It has a strong beat and a pretty melody.

"Wishing you" is the standard soft brilliant green ballad. This one is written by Ryo Matsui, coincidentally. It will become difficult to pick this song out from the other soft brilliant green songs, but rest assured that this song is just as beautiful and just as worthy as the previous songs. And for once the lyrics are mixed instead of English only. This band always makes such beautiful work out of these types of songs, so it only makes sense that they're sticking to what works well for them. They always have kind of the same range of songs on each of their singles (main single, short upbeat song, soft ballad), but it's a good mix that seems to keep working well for them. I don't see a reason to stop.

Neither the whole CD or the main track alone is quite as good as "Forever to me", but it's close enough. This single is still quite worthy of a music-lover's attention, as most brilliant green singles are. Buy it here.

Overall Rating: 8 - Pretty good.
